Campaign for Culture 2025 | Canadian Arts Coalition
It’s time to be heard.
The Canadian Arts Coalition is calling on Canadians who care about Arts and Culture in their communities to add your letter through our easy campaign.
We are very concerned that the federal government is going to ignore their own platform to strengthen Canadian culture in a time when we need it most, and potentially cut our primary funding mechanisms even more.
Many thousands of individual artists and cultural organizations across Canada are supported in part by funding from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Department of Canadian Heritage. This has a clear and tangible impact on the economies, tourism, health and well-being, sense of belonging and shared identities that shape our country. It is time to invest in our communities, our economy, and our nation through a reinvestment in Arts and Culture.
We have a letter campaign that you can spend as little as 20 seconds on, or spend a few more minutes and tell your story.
1. Send your letter through our New/Mode Campaign.
New/Mode is a program that gives you our template automatically, allows you to fill in your postal code and the letter goes where you need it – to your MP as well as to the Prime Minister, Minster of Finance, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry of Canada, and the Minister of Heritage. Simple!
We know everyone is busy, and if you only have capacity to sign and send, that’s great!
If you have a few minutes to add your own short paragraph at the top of the letter template, that’s even better. Numbers are important, but specific stories of impact from across the country are what will make the difference.
You can see some examples here.
Whatever you can do to show the government that the arts matter to you and your community and give us a stronger sense of being Canadian is helpful. The more tangible the better.
2. Use your letter to speak to your MP.
Now you’ve made the case with your letter, you have all the information you need to have a brief conversation with your MP about it.
Follow up the letter with a phone call, or an email asking to meet about your letter. They may not make the time, but they will know you called and why. It matters.
