WHAT WE LEARNED FROM THE ANNUAL MEMBER SURVEY [2025]

October 13, 2026

We would like to thank all members who took the time to complete the 2025 annual member survey. The data collected will be very helpful to the sector’s advocacy committee and the IMAA team in ensuring we better meet your needs. Since compiling and analyzing the results is a labor-intensive process, we have decided to conduct this survey again in 2027. In the meantime, we’re pleased to share a few statistics that caught our attention!

50% of our members say that IMAA has helped them improve their knowledge and skills in administration and governance by :

  • Being on committees
  • Using the advocacy toolkit
  • Joining a caucus meeting (Distribution, Production, Festival)
  • Using the media arts fee schedule
  • Participating to an IMAA gathering
  • Consulting IMAA’s Basis of Unity
  • Conversing with other organizations across the country
  • Staying informed on funding opportunities and larger advocacy priorities

Respondents who are not in executive positions want to be more involved and aware of the ways to engage with IMAA!

Here are a few ways to support that:

  • Make sure your team is subscribed to IMAA’s Newsletter.
  • Send us a request to add your team’s emails on the Memo to members list at info@imaa.ca.
  • Invite your team to the Regional Meetings & Caucuses.
  • Add your team’s contacts to your organization in your Member Space. (where you renew your membership!)

Epic stats about our membership

  • 50% of our members used the Advocacy Toolkit. (mostly for their strategic planning, writing grant applications & advocacy with political representatives)
  • IMAA members :
    • presented more than 5400 works,
    • paid approximately 6000 artists,
    • and contributed more than 26,000 hours of in-kind support, representing an approximate value of over $3 million.

Our members want more focus on…

  • Advocacy
  • Preservation and digitization
  • Reviewing the Fee schedule
  • Diversifying revenue strategies
  • Opportunities to connect – in person and virtually, regionally, through mentorship, etc.
