IMAA TRAVEL SUBSIDIES (General)

This year, IMAA is only able to support a part of transportation costs. A committee will be reviewing applications and notifying all applicants by the end of the week of April 20, 2026.

If your application is successful, IMAA will reimburse the approved portion of transportation costs within 7 days of receipt of requisite documents.

IMAA will prioritize requests from first time attendees, emerging media arts administrators, participants from under-represented groups (as described below) and people whose organizations are in rural or isolated areas.

The BIPOC Travel Subsidy aims to provide financial assistance for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) attendees participating in Temporal Anchorings: A National Media Arts Gathering. The subsidy covers travel costs and accommodations, and not the registration fee for the conference. If the registration fee poses a financial burden for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@imaa-old.local.com. 

This Travel Subsidy aims to provide financial assistance for Black, Indigenous, People of Colour and Trans attendees participating in Tuning In: A National Media Arts Gathering. We understand that securing funding for travel expenses can be difficult, particularly for individuals from marginalized communities. Please share with us any challenges you may have encountered in accessing financial support to participate in the gathering. Your response will help us better understand your needs.

Outside of the criteria outlined above, applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis until the available allocation is exhausted. Only one application per organization can be funded.  A committee will be reviewing applications and notifying all applicants during the week of April 20, 2026.

Please note that there is also a general Travel Subsidies Form (supporting transportation only).  Black, Indigenous, People of Colour and Trans participants can apply for both travel subsidies, but will be able to benefit from only one.
